There is also endocannabinoid system which used to be part of nervous system but now studied separately. It involves various small molecules that are known as neuromodulators which regulates memory, appetite and pain sensation.
Personally, I like “systems biology” (the new black in biomedical science) which studies interactions between all of the biological systems.
