Question: What do you do in your spare time?

Keywords: , ,

  1. I love to bake (as you can probably tell from my profile and my ABC transporter cake) and my workmates are more than happy to be my guinea pigs when I want to try out something new. I also hit the gym with my best friend (also a scientist) a couple of times a week. I enjoy reading fantasy novels, and computer games and own a Wii, although it hasnt been played in a while. I also love spending time with my 8 little nephews and nieces and my family.

I like to do lots of different things in my spare time. I like to try lots of new things, and quite often live by the motto “variety is the spice of life”.

Some of my favourite things to do are watching tv shows and movies (I like all kinds of films except horror), reading fantasy and crime novels, and playing computer games. I also go to the gym three times a week.

Some other things I enjoy doing are: ice skating, horse riding and rock climbing. I have a colleague who recently got his scuba diving license and I think that’s something I’d like to try next.

  3. My favourite things to do in my spare time are playing with my kitten, gardening and exercise. Playing with my kitten helps relax me when I’m stressed. I laugh, have fun and it helps clear my mind. I have a vegie garden in the backyard and tending it as well as going to the gym makes me feel good about doing things for myself to keep me healthy. and nothing is better then making a salad from my freshly picked vegetables.

When I want to relax I also like to watch TV series on DVD. At the moment I’ve just started Game of Thrones, season 2.

  4. Spare time? Omg what is that? Why don’t you do another experiment? That’s how my PhD supervisor responds whenever I use “spare time”…
Well, he is not cruel all the time.
Umm, I am a professional table tennis player – not good enough to play for national team but getting there. I’m playing for Macquarie Uni team at the moment – if anyone happens to be around Sydney, come and support me at Macquarie Uni Sport and Aquatic centre (I play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings)
I am avid chess player – played professionally between 1999-2005, I started to lose against many new generation players who memorize movement combinations so I couldn’t keep up my Int’l rating so since 2005 I just play for fun.
My favourite spare time activity is horseback riding, I also practice WingChun Kungfu twice a week (we have a sparring class in the academy I’m going, it is like Fight Club, my brain was so shaky during my first few months then I got used to get punches and kicks – they still hurt though)
I enjoy dining out with my partner at different posh restaurants in Sydney (once or twice a week).
Yeah these are my regular spare time activities.
