Question: hi its turtle3 (my name isnt actually turtle3 but i do luv turtles) i just wanted to know what your favourite science experiment you were taught at school. mine is elephant toothpaste and the classic soda and mentos experiment. hope you get a chance to answer my question. xxx
Keywords: elephant, mentos, soda, toothpaste
i never did either of those in school (but have since done them with other student as the demonstrator) we made sherbert, made slime and yoghurt and lit thing on fire.
but my favourite was making a crytsal garden. it’s like those experiments where you dangle a string in salt water with food colouring but this uses liquid silicon and metal salts which result in crystals of different colours and is almost instant. my favourite was cobalt as the crystals were brilliant blue. They looked a bit like like this but with more colours from the different metals i used.

and here’s the instruction if you want to give it to your teacher. But it does involve some slightly dangerous chemicals so requires supervision and older students, but it’s really fun to do

Hi Turtle, I had a pet turtle for 13 years. I really loved him but he died last year. I am not going to get another one because I was deeply attached to my little friend. Anyway, old memories came… Let’s get back to your question. My favourite at high school was caffeine and typing speed experiment. Before the experiment, I drank 3 cups of large coffee plus 2 cans of red bull (I was young and stupid back then) and I typed faster not due to the energy drink and coffee because I wanted to do so 🙂
Good old days, lol 😀

My favourite experiment in high school – and probably the main one I remember – was when we had the bunsen burners turned on on the bench and sprayed the flame with different chemicals which contained different metals. Depending on the metal in the spray the flame would turn different colours, a bit like how the get the colours on fireworks. I though it was awesome and have loved fireworks ever since!
