Question: What personal qualities are recommended to become a scientist and study your area of science?

I think you need to be a bit stubborn because things will go wrong and you have to keep working at them until you sort it out. you need to have a good imagination because you need to come up with ideas of what to research and how. it helps to get along well with people as you will need to collaborate on projects with other scientists.

    That said, there are a real range of personalities at my work.

  2. I think you need to be curious and persistent. If you don’t have these qualities it can be easy to get down about experiments not working. You always have to remember there are new things to try and work around the problem. It will always be worth it in the end.

    I think its important you are passionate about the field you work in. There will be times when long hours are needed, especially around the time of year for writing grants as your own salary can depend on you getting funding. If you have passion and love what you do it will help pull you through the tough times.

  3. You have to be passionate, curious, inquisitive and brave. You need to be able to come up with scientifically relevant, good questions (which is something you clearly possess). You also need to develop good critical thinking skill.
