There is no current treatment for alzheimers, so it something you die with. usually people are diagnosed about 60, but there is also early onset alzheimers which is diagnosed around 30-40 years old.
There are many labs around the world working on this, especially on early detection as it is thought the process starts in the brain 10 years before the symptoms appear. It is possible that detecting the symptoms earlier will make it easier to design treatments which may stop or slow the damage in the brain

However the sporadic form of Alzheimer’s disease on average, given the state of good supportive care, can last from 5 to 20 years. The average is between 8-12 years.
April 7, I lost both my grandparents due to Alzheimer’s, it lasted 12 years. However the last 2 years were horrible, they were ready to pass away rather than living another 10 years being unable recognize their own grandson… Whenever I visited them it was so painful to see them getting embarrassed due to not remembering me.
