Question: Do you think that in the future we will be able to create life?

  1. absolutely! Scientists in Australia have taken DNA from an extinct gastric brooding frog and managed to create an embryo. They now plan to see if they can get the embryo to grow into a frog. This is really quite an amazing thing

  2. Yes, I definitely think it is going to happen in the near future. In fact, scientists came very near of creating life in 2010. An American synthetic biologist, Craig Venter successfully demonstrated the first-ever synthetic genome transplantation. In plain English, he designed a minimalistic genome (genome which has only genes required to live on – so such a genome cannot do complex stuff like animals or plants) on his computer and synthesized it (it is like writing a paper on computer then printing it out). Then he placed this synthetic genome into another bacteria which accepted the synthetic genome and continued to live and divide. This discovery has been already celebrated by some scientific communities as “first synthetic life”. In reality, it is the nearest thing to creating life. Nevertheless, we will be witnessing the first synthetic life in very near future, I totally believe in it.
Synthetic biology really excites me, I’m captivated by it 😀

  3. I think so! I read the news about the gastric brooding frog yesterday and though it was amazing! It was done by Australian scientists too! It’s an amazing animal where the young develop in the stomach and are spit out of the adults mouth when they are ready.
