Question: can superbugs become any stronger and become more resistant to antibiotics?

  1. absolutely. Bacteria are very good at no only changing their DNA, but some specieis of bacteria can even swap it! That means some bacteria are very good at becoming reistant to antibiotics very quickly. the main superbugs like MRSA, and some strains of streptococcus pneumoniae are already resistant to a majority of the antibiotics we have. only some pretty expensive drugs remain which can kill them, and as you can imagine, those drugs aren’t likely to be available in 3rd world countries.

It is highly likely that in the coming years, these strains will become resistant to even those drugs, so we are in a rush to find soemthing new to kill them before that happens.
