Glandular fever is caused by a virus called Epstein-Barr, and is often spread through kissing. It causes fever, sore throat, fatigue, headache, muscle pain and develops sores in the mouth. There is no treatment except rest and the use of anti-inflammatories such as paracetamol to reduce the symptoms and pain. Normally the condition clears up in around 2-4 weeks, but there are cases of it lasting longer if the immune system is weak
Glandular fever can be tricky. Medical literature indicates that it would last between 2-6 weeks nonetheless the after-effects can last for months. My cousin had it for ~5 months.
