I don’t know any of these guys sadly. They do all sound like awesome people right?
I have however, met a lot of scientist through twitter over the years. It is a source of inspiration, sympathetic ears/eyes, and a great networking tool.
I didn’t know anyone on here before this program started. But when you start doing things because you are passionate about it, you end up finding and meeting other people who are passionate about it too! 🙂
I don’t think any of us knew each other before this event. It always surprises me (although I’m not sure why) how alike scientists are to one another – we’re all passionate, perseverant and always asking questions! And it’s always great to get to know fellow scientists to share our stories and to celebrate and/or commiserate and networking (both social (e.g. twitter) as well as the old fashioned meet & greet) have helped greatly. Events like these are also a great way to bring like-minded scientists together!
I did’t know any of these awesome scientists. But we are getting to know each other. Also thanks to Kristin and Dee, a catch up will be arranged for scientists to meet. So I will be meeting Kate on May. I’m sure I’ll meet Miranda someday as we are both interested in science communication and education.
