We always allow a range of questions. You’re more likely to engage the scientists when asking them questions related to their expertise, but this question is fine to ask in this zone.

So I could ask ‘what causes global pollution?’ and they would answer it?

Soon there might be proof, about 30 years ago they sent a space shuttle out into space with info about our planet. This will take ages to get to a planet that might have alien life because the shuttle just passed Pluto. Hopefully there will be some aliens out there it’ll be so exciting to know. 🙂

idk if there are any but the 2012 olympic games it was a no-flight area, anyways there was an “UFO” sited near the london bridge … on the day of the 2012 games .. so yea is that irrelavent ???

Well I haven’t seen any, but I guess the scientist in me believes that with so many planets in the universe, and many suggested to be able to support life, that there are other life forms out there somewhere. Whether they are intelligent, or green little men, I don’t know. But I look forward to hopefully living long enough to know the answer!

Not that I have heard or know of. But that doesn’t mean aliens don’t exist! There is so much about our universe we don’t know yet.

I don’t know of any proof that aliens exist, but it doesn’t mean that they don’t. The universe is huge and there is so much we don’t know and haven’t discovered yet, there might be.

Did you know there are aliens living in our world, too? Fellow researchers at Macquarie Uni have recently discovered an ALIEN slime living in Nullarbor Plains, SA. The ALIEN bacteria they identified live in an underwater cave (complete darkness) where temperature is near zero and the environment is extremely hypoxic (trace amounts of oxygen where even fish cannot live). These bacteria live totally independent of sunlight and the ecosystems on the surface. This is a very fresh discovery. There are also other organisms which can live under extreme radioactivity.
Bacteria known as Deinococcus radiodurans can live in the most extreme radioactive environment. It can survive extreme cold, dehydration (no water) and radioactivity. It has a unique ability to isolate its damaged DNA and repair it at very fast rates. It is known as world’s toughest bacteria. I used work on Deinococcus and it is one of my favourite organisms. Now imagine if these are possible even in our world, why shouldn’t there be a life form in other planets.
Here is the BIG news for you, NASA started to fund a project in 2010 for group of synthetic biologists (like me) to create an organism that can live in Mars and produce oxygen and water. This is not Sci-Fi, it is real. So I don’t just believe there are aliens, I firmly believe that we have the technology to create aliens 🙂
