Question: when your work is done, what will you do?

  1. Hi gravity123,

A scientist’s work is never done. There are always new questions to ask, new discoveries to find, particularly in complex diseases like multiple myeloma. Some scientists can stay in the same field for their entire career and never stop finding new things!

How long a scientist stays in a particular lab or a particular field depends on how much money is available, and whether the scientist wants to do something different, as interesting as some things are, researching the same thing can get a little bit boring after a while (imagine if you just learned about 1 thing in class all the time).

When my time ends with my current lab, I’d like to stay in research but maybe investigate a different disease, I’m still at the beginning of my research career, so I’d like to learn a few more skills and try some different techniques.

The great thing about science is that the skills you learn you can take with you and apply to lots of different areas of research.
