Question: is multiple myeloma a common type of cancer?

    If we are looking at cancers in general (and not only blood cancers), the most common type of cancers that are diagnosed are: lung, breast (in women) and prostate (in men).

    Multiple myeloma is the second most common blood cancer (the most common is non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma). About 1200 patients are diagnosed with multiple myeloma each year in Australia. Approximately 20,000 new cases were diagnosed in the USA in 2012.
