Hi scientistsophie!
A microbiologist studies microbes. Usually bacteria or fungi. They can do anything from looking at how the microbes grow, how they make us sick, how much they contaminate food or water or they may look at how the microbes can help produce chemicals for medicines.
A biochemist, looks at chemical reactions in biology. This might be with DNA or proteins. It could be looking at what chemical reactions occur when we make energy inside ourselves.
Often in science you end up fitting into more then one discipline. You can be a biochemist and microbiologist. For example you could study the chemical metabolism processes in bacteria.
