Question: Why is this disease painful so much?

  1. This disease is so painful because your body is attacking itself. Your immune system is attacking a part of your body all the time, so that part of your body (your spine) is always sore. Then, later in disease, the bones in your spine are fusing together. This is a very very slow process as well. Can you imagine how painful it would be to have extra bone growing in your back? That is why this disease hurts people so much, because it goes on for such a long time.
