I use needles a lot in my work, but not for what you think. because the end of the needle is so small, it is a great way to make sure clumps of cells are broken up, without damaging them too much. It’s also a great way to mix fats with detergents as it really makes them bubble!
I use needles for the same reason as Miranda, to break open cells by passing them through the needle. When I first started using them I really didn’t like it, because I was scared I would accidentally stick myself with it. But I was very careful, and now it’s not so bad. Needles are nothing to be afraid of, but it is a very common phobia.
