Question: What are the first signs of brain cancer?

Keywords: , ,

  1. This will depend on where in the brain the tumour is growing. Each part of the brain controls a different aspect of how we work. so if a tumour grows in the part that controls memory, you might start to forget things. If it grows in the part that controls how we hear things, you might have difficulty hearing properly. Or the same goes with the vision and smell centres of the brain.

Some symptoms are more general like headaches, or stomach pains. Some are more severe like Seizures and being unable to move.

patients may have symptoms without knowing it, thinking it is something else like a headache or a cold.

  2. Another symptom of brain tumors can be radical personality changes. This can also happen to people who have experienced a head injury. You can change from being very easygoing, to being stressed and annoyed all the time. You can get angry or sad for no real reason, and you may also have a lot of mood swings – happy one minute, sad the next. Unfortunately there is not a single symptom of a developing brain tumor, so often by the time you are checked out by a doctor the tumor may be severely affecting your life.

  3. I agree with Miranda. It really depends on the location of brain tumor. But common signs include headaches, vomiting, hearing&vision problems, speech problems, sometimes seizures and decline in cognitive ability…
Of course having a headache alone shouldn’t be interpreted as sign of brain cancer directly.
There is an extensive research going on for the last 5-6 years with the rise of preventative medicine, so that we can early-diagnose the tumours before the disease onset.

  4. I agree with the other scientists. I know someone who has unfortunately developed a brain tumor and the only symptom she had was dizzyness. They still don’t know how bad the cancer. Why the symptoms may give clues to what is going on, it doesn’t always tell you a lot about how bad the cancer may be or if you are lucky and its caught early.
